About ZCH's Ashley Cravatta
Horsemanship is a way of life, an art form, and a profound connection to the natural world. I believe that the true beauty of horsemanship lies in the partnership between horse and rider, and in the deep sense of understanding and trust that comes from working together as a team. My approach to horsemanship is rooted in the principles of classical dressage, which emphasize balance, harmony, and lightness. But for me, these principles are just the starting point. I believe that true horsemanship is about cultivating a deep, intuitive connection with your horse, and about working together to achieve a shared vision of beauty, grace, and excellence.
I have studied with a variety of trainers over the years, always seeking new tools and effective, compassionate methods from all corners of the community. I have been fortunate to train with natural horsemen who have adopted the methods of Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance, namely Helen Quinby in New York. Classical Portuguese equitation masters who strive to allow the natural nobility of the horse to appear, including Jose Manuel Correia Lopes, Carlos Carneiro, and Rodrigo Matos. Classical dressage clinicians who teach lightness and self carriage, including Bettina Drummond and students of Phillipe Karl, and more technical dressage approaches with FEI Gold Medalist Brooke Voldbaek. I've been able to combine everything from that learning to create a program and method that's adaptable to the individual horse.
